International Protocol Workshop

28.11.2017
The PannonEagle LIFE International Workshop for the harmonization of national protocols against illegal poisoning of wildlife was successfully organized in Biatorbágy on 23-24th, November. The aim of the meeting was to discuss practical problems with the invited experts on field investigation and veterinarian protocols related to illegal predator poisoning.

The event attracted 42 attendees from all five countries participating in the project (Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia and Hungary). The invited stakeholder groups incorporated professionals from the area of nature conservation, police investigation and veterinary science.

Building on the experiences of the previous Helicon LIFE project, our colleagues presented the practices used currently in Hungary. However, due to the legislative and institutional differences of the mentioned countries, the protocols cannot be simply copied, but have to be adapted to the existing national regulations and local practices. The harmonization of the field investigation and veterinary protocols and the coordination of the necessary discrepancies formed the backbone of the meeting’s program. On Friday, the first Steering Committee meeting of the PannonEagle LIFE project took place as well, where the delegates from partner organizations and co-financing institutions were informed about the progress of the project and discussed the relevant issues.

We thank all the participants for their contribution to the success of this workshop.
